Benefits and challenges of researching in an international context: the globalized professor

Wednesday (26.09.2018)
14:30 - 14:45
Part of:

There are great benefits in carrying out research in an international stage, indeed it is (almost) impossible to do high impact scientific work without a great network of international collaborators. Based on personal experience and feedback from colleagues and peers, we will discuss the importance of developing and maintaining a network of research collaborators from the time of the doctoral thesis and how such network has a beneficial influence on the development of a research career, with focus in academia. The challenges and efforts related to maintaining and expanding collaborative networks will be highlighted and examples on how to benefit from international visibility will be presented, based on personal experiences of an international career in materials science and engineering spanning almost 30 years with activities in several countries like Argentina, Germany, UK and USA.
