International Research Experiences and OpportunitiesWednesday (26.09.2018) 16:30 - 17:00 Part of:
Professor Hemker’s enormously positive and formative experiences as a postdoctoral researcher at the EPFL in Lausanne Switzerland has made him a strong advocate of international exchanges. Hemker has hosted numerous visiting scholars and international postdoctoral fellows in his group at Johns Hopkins and arranged many overseas opportunities for his own students. Moreover, when Johns Hopkins was founded to be the first research intensive university in the United States it was based on the German approach to science and model of scholarship that prevailed in the late 19th century. One tangible benefit of that legacy and connection is the Vradenberg Scholarship program, which has provided countless opportunities for Johns Hopkins undergraduates to participate in research internships in Europe. These international experiences and opportunities will be outlined in this talk.
